Model Making for Architecture by Matt Driscoll
Model making is a beautiful and skilful craft, and architectural model making is a vital part of the building process. The architectural model is often the first time that a building is visualized in 3D. It can capture the excitement of the architect's vision but can also reveal unforeseen difficulties.
Matt Driscoll is the founding director of Base Models Ltd. He trained as a model maker at the Kent Institute of At and Design and worked as a freelance model maker before launching Base Models in 2006. Since its formation, Base Models has gained a reputation for creating beautiful yet practical models in answer to its clients' needs.
Base Models has had its work exhibited in Tate Britain, The Royal Academy Summer exhibition, No 10 Downing Street, and numerous public and private events. Matt lectures on the subject of model making and is committed to supporting students of architecture and contemporary design.
