Smooth-on Mold Max 60 heat resistant
Mold Max 60 is a Shore 60A condensation-cure silicone rubber formulated for applications requiring high heat resistance (up to 294°C). It features a low mixed viscosity and cured rubber exhibits very low linear shrinkage.
With care, the metals we sell can be cast into this silicone, but at lower than the maximum temperatures for the metals.
The high Shore hardness means this product is ideal for making prototype shoe soles.
Also great for casting molten Monster Clay into and for making wax castings/candles.
Applications include making foundry patterns, flat pattern reproductions and casting low-melt metal alloys such as tin and pewter.
NOTE: An accurate gram scale is required to measure the mix ratio for Mold Max 60 and vacuum degassing the rubber is highly recommended. Thi-Vex is not compatible with Mold Max 60.
Mix ratio 100A:3B by weight. Pot life 40 mins. Cure time 24 hours.
Shore 60A hardness.
NB: cannot be coloured due to its dense red ‘natural’ pigmentation. A 5.6kg version can be supplied to order – please email email@example.com or call 020 7264 1288 for more information.
