With the support of our Production Managers and Creative Technologists, you will be reasonable with the maintenance, repair, and optimization of our artworks, employing a proactive approach to preserve their longevity and performance. Your expertise in technical troubleshooting, craftsmanship, and attention to detail will be essential in upholding the studio's commitment to excellence and client satisfaction.

Outline

Based Upon is currently seeking an enthusiastic and versatile team member with a design/engineering background and an interest in automation. The successful candidate will assist in programming, setup, and operation of our CNC Router, supporting our head machinist.

Our machine is pivotal to our fabrication capacity, handling multiple materials at various stages of our production.

We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate to work as a 3D technician/learning advisor within our busy 3D design department.

You must display excellent attention to detail, work within health & safety guidelines when using equipment and have a real passion for designing and making.

The successful applicant will provide technical support to staff within the D&T / Art faculty.

You would assist staff and students in a wide range of art and design activities in our 3D workshops. This will include preparation, monitoring and maintenance of equipment and materials and assisting with demonstrations of equipment and processes.

You would be responsible for maintaining and providing basic servicing for woodworking and metalworking machinery, assisting with demonstrations including CAD/CAM machinery and software and operating and maintaining laser cutters, 3D printers and CNC router.

You will also supervise classes of learners in Active Learning Facilitator sessions in the teaching areas.

You should possess a qualification in Art and Design or similar such as, Product Design, Modelmaking or Architecture and will ideally have some experience in an art and design related role, with a particular focus on 3D work, and will need experience of using 3D equipment/machinery including a laser cutter.

You should also have excellent communication skills, be flexible and have enthusiasm for working with young people in a creative environment.
