We are looking for a talented architectural model maker to join our highly skilled in-house workshop. You will be working on a variety of projects covering all scales, from large masterplans to full size design mock-ups. You will be required to work both independently and as part of a team on a range of high profile projects and be comfortable using traditional techniques of model making by hand as well as new technologies - including laser cutting, CNC machining and rapid prototyping.

You must have at least one year’s experience within an architectural practice or model making studio and have the ability to understand architectural drawings. Knowledge of laser cutting principles, experience on a variety of woodworking machinery, spray painting techniques and 2D and 3D CAD software knowledge are all required. You must also have sound communication skills, be a proactive self-starter and be comfortable working to tight deadlines.

This is a full time role based in our design studios in Bankside, London. We offer a competitive salary with a comprehensive benefits package.

You will be working on a wide range of projects including large scale advertising, exhibition and character models, accurate scale and engineering models through to museum grade models and general prop making. You will have the opportunity to work with a passionate, fun and experienced team on all aspects of model making, mould making, rigid foam carving and spray finishing as well as the possibility to gain experience with our 6 axis CNC Robot.

What are we looking for:

Essential:

Hard working, positive can do attitude and okay with working flexible hours when needed. We can work beyond normal hours, unfortunately our deadlines do not work around us or you and therefore on occasion we work into an evening or through a weekend.We fully understand this will not suit all and we make every attempt to limit this, however it is expected that everyone will be here when required to do so. We are a small team, there is nowhere to hide !!

Must have strong core skills, using bandsaws, drills, sanders etc, you must be able to fill, sand and profile large models efficiently and to a high standard. Surface finishing in prep for spraying is also essential.

Good communication skills, able to work within a team but also capable of managing your own time.

Our boss is a Golden Retriever so you must be okay with dogs, however much attention they demand.

Our team members are passionate about this industry and problem solving, each of us is constantly pushing to better themselves on each model that leaves here, we are looking for like minded people to join us.
