Cork sheet (thin).

Cork sheeting is a very useful model making material. In architectural model making, cork can be used in the making of topographical stratified models. It can also be used as a base to lay train tracks on model railway layouts.

  • Sheet size: 600 x 900mm
  • Sheet thickness: various (see drop down box).
  • Pack size: various (see drop down box).
  • Thicker sheets of cork are available - see below
  • Cut with a blade or scissors
  • Glue with a good quality PVA or contact adhesive (be aware that glue can seep through porus cork).
  • You can laminate sheets with X-film DX double sided adhesive sheet, great for topographical stratified models
  • Sheets may be rolled for dispatch. Please call 020 7264 1288 or email info@modelshop.co.uk if you require it to be packed flat (there will be an extra charge then applied)

Cork has a fine, closed cell structure and low density, provides good insulation for heat and sound and is also difficult to set on fire. All of these positive attributes have led to its being very often used as a natural insulating material. Because cork does not absorb liquids or take on dust or dirt, it is hygienic as well.
