Acetone is good for general cleaning, degreasing and washing resin from brushes & laminating tools.
It has may other uses such as dissolving superglue, removing permanent marker marks & small scratches from glass, removing paint & dissolving styrofoam.
We created the texture on our asteroid model by brushing acetone onto styrofoam. Using a natural brush, we varied the quantity of solvent on different areas to give a more realistic finish.
The asteroid was finished with a mix of white and black acrylic paint, to create a light grey tint.
We used a dry brush technique to highlight the texture of the asteroid.
