Workshop Role
- Oversee all activities within the workshop, including fabrication, prototyping, and assembly, ensuring adherence to quality standards.

- Collaborate closely with designers, Production Managers, and engineers, to understand project requirements and develop feasible in-house fabrication strategies. Coordinate workflow and resources to meet project milestones and deadlines effectively.

- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work logs, repair histories, and equipment specifications. Generate reports and updates for internal use and clients, detailing maintenance schedules, performance metrics, and recommendations for improvement.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding artwork maintenance and support services. Communicate effectively to address client inquiries, provide technical assistance, and offer recommendations for enhancing the longevity and performance of installed artworks.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and best practices during maintenance activities, prioritizing the safety of personnel and the protection of artwork assets. Implement measures to mitigate risks and maintain a safe working environment.
Experience & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Industrial/ Product Design, Engineering, or architecture.
- Proven experience (4 years) in a similar role within a creative or fabrication environment, preferably in the fields of architecture, art, or design.
- Experienced with the installation and integration of low-voltage electronics.
- Proficiency in fabrication techniques, including woodworking, metalworking, CNC machining, and 3D printing.

Outline
Based Upon is currently seeking an enthusiastic and versatile team member with a design/engineering background and an interest in automation. The successful candidate will assist in programming, setup, and operation of our CNC Router, supporting our head machinist.
Our machine is pivotal to our fabrication capacity, handling multiple materials at various stages of our production.

- Able to demonstrate a good knowledge of workshop machinery including circular saw, band saw, pillar drill, sanding disc, laser cutter, lathe and mill (CNC or Manual)
- Able to use relevant tools, machinery and power equipment within the H&S guidelines as necessary for the completion of projects
- A wide knowledge of model making materials and its properties
- Rhino/AutoCAD/ Materialize Magics.
- Able to work as part of an effective team assisting and supporting team members.
