You would assist staff and students in a wide range of art and design activities in our 3D workshops.
This will include preparation, monitoring and maintenance of equipment and materials and assisting with demonstrations of equipment and processes.
Salary: £20,611 to £24,996 Actual salary for 36 hours per week, 39 weeks per year

You would be responsible for maintaining and providing basic servicing for woodworking and metalworking machinery, assisting with demonstrations including CAD/CAM machinery and software and operating and maintaining laser cutters, 3D printers and CNC router.
You should possess a qualification in Product Design Modelmaking or similar and will ideally have some experience in a design related role, with a particular focus on 3D work, and will need experience of using 3D equipment/machinery including a laser cutter. You should also have excellent communication skills, be flexible and have enthusiasm for working with young people in a creative environment.

We are looking for an individual with the following skill set:
- Qualified to a minimum HND level, preferably Degree level, in relevant subject area or equivalent industry experience
- Able to demonstrate a high level of accuracy and ability of model making skills
- Able to demonstrate a good knowledge of workshop machinery to include circular saw, band saw, pillar drill, sanding disc, laser cutter, lathe and mill (CNC or Manual)
- Able to use relevant tools, machinery and power equipment within the H&S guidelines as necessary for the completion of projects
- Able to understand architectural drawings and quickly decipher relevant information required
- Good level of 2D CAD skills required
- Basic level of 3D CAD skills required
- Able to work as part of an effective team assisting and supporting team members

Foster + Partners is an award winning, internationally renowned architectural practise. Our Model shop is based in the London headquarters and has an exciting opportunity for a Model shop CAD Support Technician to join the team.
This position is responsible for offering the model shop team essential CAD support; the candidate will be responsible for creating and manipulating CAD drawings for model shop staff to assist in all stages of design, fabrication and construction of models. (Including all Rapid Prototyping).
We are looking for an individual with the following skill set:
- Experience to a very high level of one (or more) 3d CAD package(s) MicroStation, AutoCAD, Rhino and a good understanding of CAD CAM software
- Have an Industry recognised HND qualification or degree in the relevant field
- Able to demonstrate a good knowledge of workshop machinery including laser cutting 2 and axis 5 CNC programming and RP technologies
- Able to understand architectural drawings and quickly decipher relevant information required
- Able to develop an advanced knowledge of the Computer Aided Design software used within the Practice
- Willingness to assist others and learn new skills
- Appreciation of, and commitment to, the business of the Practice
- Empathy with a creative environment
- Due to the nature of the position and the requirement to meet deadlines there will be a requirement to work additional hours as necessary
- Specialist in one or more of the following programs: Magic’s, Solidwork’s, Grasshopper, Robot programming
- Experience in graphics softwares such as Adobe suite packages
- High level of accuracy and ability of modelmaking skills
- Advanced understanding of Modelshop computer software
- An understanding of geometry and its impact on architecture
- Understanding of the potential of computer aided design software not currently used within F+P
- Written approval must be obtained from Modelshop Partners prior to any data/information being exchanged externally to Foster + Partners
- Able to use relevant tools, machinery and power equipment within the H&S guidelines as necessary for the completion of projects
