The primary responsibility of the post-holder is to support the provision of modelmaking within the workshop, including three-dimensional construction projects using Card/Paper, Wood, Plastics, Additive Manufacturing and Moulding and Casting materials.

Permanent Position - You will be based in the B.15 Architecture workshop supporting students of Manchester School of Architecture. Your role will help to increase the technical support provision within the workshops and will involve working closely with the in-post Technical / workshop staff.

Fixed term Position - You will primarily be based in the B.15 Architecture workshop supporting students of Manchester School of Architecture and will also provide dedicated support to a new Manchester Urban Design Workshop. Your role will help to increase the technical support provision within the workshops and will involve working closely with the in-post Technical / workshop staff.

Due to an unforeseen staffing issue, Interactual is short of an experienced modelmaker for the final stage of a large project. We have an urgent need for a freelance modelmaker to start immediately for 2-3 weeks.

In addition to our immediate requirement, we are always looking for experienced freelancers to help deliver a diverse range of prototype and engineering requirements working primarily in our workshop facility. Recently however our roster of possible freelancers that we can call upon has become depleted and we are keen to connect to more. Please contact us if you are competent in the skills we are looking for, even if you do not have immediate availability.

There is also the possibility to explore full-time prospects if desired for an individual who can demonstrate established competency or potential across the range that we are seeking. The right person needs to be an unrelenting problem-solver, a determined self-starter and totally at home in an engineering and prototyping workshop. They should be able to use machine tools to a high level of precision but, most of all, they should love getting stuck in, taking stuff to bits and getting their hands dirty.
