We’ve recently moved into our new workshop in Leyton, East London. There you’ll find us discussing projects with clients, devising new ways to create with responsible and sustainable materials, and making exquisite models.

We’re looking for a talented and outgoing model maker who is excited about creating refined models for both architects and larger scale developments is required to join our small team. Candidates will have a proven ability to craft clean models using traditional model-making techniques but also be excited by innovation and experimenting with new materials. Highly organised and methodical, candidates will have the ability to work efficiently and independently to ensure the accuracy and quality of the finished output.

We’d like to meet experienced model makers from an architectural background and those starting their journey into architectural model making who, as well as having very strong making skills have a particularly strong visual sense and a good eye for material and innovation.

Cod Steaks is a leading Creation Studio, providing exceptional design and construction services for Film, Museums, Brand Centres, Retail, Immersive Attractions and Art installations.

We operate from our own fully equipped workshops with seventeen manufacturing departments which include metalwork, carpentry, spray shop, CNC, poly carving, sculpting, mould-making etc.

We’re looking for a highly organised Stock and Workshop Controller to streamline operations at our site in Bristol. The role will involve a mixture of stock control, basic management/maintenance of the building (and machines within it), health & safety and general support to the workshop team.

You will implement and maintain a tight stock ordering system, negotiating best rates with suppliers, keeping stores well organised and tidy. You will check in deliveries, operating a forklift and/or manually handle goods in. Creating an internal booking in/out system for tools, you will check for faults and schedule repairs accordingly.

In addition to basic maintenance of workshop machines (changing saw blades etc), you will schedule in regular servicing of external contractors (LEV, gas safety, PAT, forklift, FEWT, vehicle MOT etc) and maintain meticulous records. As a named key holder you will also be responsible for opening/locking up and general security of the premises.

Key to the role is a solid background in H&S. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking regular fire risk assessments of the building, general risk assessments for new tools/machinery and updating the company H&S policy when required. You will also be responsible for maintaining a COSHH register, ensuring risk assessments and data sheets are available for all stock items. You will uphold and enforce good H&S practice in the workshop, delegating H&S roles to relevant Dept Heads and ensure that these tasks are fulfilled.

Working alongside the Head of Production, you will organise the workshop space according to the demands of each job. Holding regular housekeeping and toolbox talks with staff, you will implement workshop/yard tidies when required. You will pitch in to load trucks/pack installation kit for our teams going to site and will co-ordinate the workshop assistant who will help with tasks.

The successful candidate will be organised and practical with a drive for efficiency. Collaborating closely with the Head of Departments and General Manager, you will help to streamline processes within our vibrant working environment.

Scale Models Weston is a marine and architectural model making company based near Earls Colne, Essex. We specialise in marine model making working with clients worldwide, our clients range from leading superyacht designers, commercial marine and military ship builders to architects and property developers.

We are seeking a Senior Model Maker to work as part of a small team who can deliver exceptionally high-quality models, working on the project from the briefing stage right through to completion.

The Senior Model Maker needs to be competent in all aspect of the model making process from 3D drawing using Rhino, output using a range of in-house 3D printers and hand finishing to a high specification using a range of techniques including spray and hand painting and final assembly. A keen eye for detail and the ability to meticulously work to plan specifications are a must. Many of the exhibition models contain moving parts and lighting, so some experience of working with electronics would be beneficial.

Every model is allocated hours and budget so an understanding of creating a high-quality model with a high level of attention to detail, whilst also working within the specified hours and budget is crucial.

Ideally, we are looking for somebody with at least 4 years’ experience in a similar role.

Skills & Experience:

Some knowledge of casting and moulding could be useful.

Offering a competitive salary, based on experience £25k - £38k
