About you: We are seeking a professionally minded individual with a sound knowledge of CAD design (AutoCAD). You should be able to demonstrate an ability to work on your own initiative and also as part of a team and are likely to hold a relevant qualification. Likewise, excellent communication skills are a key attribute for all candidates.

Great attention to detail and a good eye for design and presentation would be most desirable. The position will suit someone with initial experience or who has recently qualified with the right attitude and drive to learn / develop into the role. In return, you will be fully supported in your personal and career development.

About the Role:

The role consists of, but is not restricted to, the following elements:

1) CAD Drawing & Design (Predominantly 2D) – From small scale arrangements and technical details to concept and detailed masterplans, general arrangements and more detailed designs.

2) Graphic Design & Presentation – Production of visually dynamic presentation materials and design booklets for print or electronic delivery using programmes such as the Adobe CC Suite.

The prime duty of the role is the preparation and management of 2D CAD drawings to support the design department in the communication of design concepts and technical details of information and data held in the office and other business-related media. Job Particulars / Remuneration: This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week between 8.30am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday. The successful applicant will receive a starting salary of £18,000 - £22,000 depending upon experience.

HEXR is well-known for its 3D printed, custom-fit, honeycomb cycling helmets. In our pursuit to develop the best head protection, we have become a fast-growing R&D organisation with expertise in engineering and design.

We are looking for an in-house workshop technician with industry experience, to use and maintain our workshop machinery as well as aid in directing the growth of our internal prototyping capabilities. As part of our R&D processes, we regularly prototype various components associated with our helmets, we have been bringing various processes in house and have reached a point where the equipment we’re operating requires a dedicated and experienced individual.

The successful candidate will join a team of skilled & experienced engineers and designers, in which you will have the opportunity to tangibly shape the future of HEXR, and of head protection, as we continue to develop our industry-leading technologies.

Key responsibilities

• High quality model making (thermoforming, routing, 3D printing, spray painting)
• Operating and maintaining our:

• Help sourcing workshop equipment
• Creating CAM toolpaths from our 3D Data for the helmet geometry
• Organising the workflow, managing the workshop’s material stock and keeping the workshop tidy.
• Knowledge of Conversion and preparation of customer CAD files to enable the manufacture of models and prototypes. (Training will be given to the suitable candidate).
• Excellent knowledge of conventional workshop machines and tools.
• Plan output and material requirements to meet targets.
• Operating our test machinery, such as our impact testing equipment

Requirements

Essential:
• 10+ year experience with model making
• A good knowledge of typical workshop machinery and tools
• A good level of 3D CAD knowledge
• Experience in delivering projects within deadlines
• Ability to work on site at the Hexr Lab (E3 3TZ)
• Extensive manufacturing knowledge from injection moulding to thermoforming
• Professional, take initiative

Nice to have:

• Experience in a leading consultancy or in house firm

This could mean assembling circuitry, writing up operations manuals for clients, 3D printing mechanisms and everything in between.
